With Veronica Cotter and Chirstine Kenyon
Let’s get that image you love off your screen and into a gorgeous print!
You are familiar with glossy and matte prints. What happens to the image when printed on a 100% cotton paper, bamboo or textured paper? Does dye vs pigment ink make a difference to the overall look of the print? How do you prepare your photos for printing and how do you achieve fine quality prints at home? The class will teach you about fine art papers and their impact and then lead you through the essentials of printing workflow: color management, monitor calibration, ICC profiles, contrast control (highlights & shadows), color correction and retouching. You will also look at the beautiful range of Hahnemühle FineArt papers.
You will learn to evaluate the nature of different papers and how they will effect an image. The details of preparing a file for printing. Printer settings, ICC profiles, techniques to emphasize the desired look of your images.
Hands-on work will include photo review and paper-photo matching, finalizing your images, review with the instructors, and printing on Hahnemühle FineArt papers.
Bring to class your notebook, laptop and a thumb drive and 3 images to print. Files should be at least 8.5x11 @300 dpi with a Color space: of Adobe RGB or sRGB with a file format of .jpg, .tif or psd. (We can not print image files processed as CMYK) .
For a full post-production experience combine with the morning class “Your Digital Darkroom”
