Fine Art Paper for Photographic Prints

Veronica Cotter with Kevin Anthuis

You are familiar with glossy and matte prints.  What happens to the image when printed on a 100% cotton paper, bamboo or textured paper? Does dye vs pigment ink make a difference to the overall look of the print?  Imagine an infared photo on a Photo Rag® Bright White or FineArt Baryta Satin paper.  Our Hahnemühle FineArt paper and printing experts will take you through the essentials of printing workflow: color management, monitor calibration, ICC profiles, contrast control (highlights & shadows), color correction and retouching. You will also look at the beautiful range of Hahnemühle FineArt papers.  Photo Rag®, Bamboo, William Turner, German Etching, FineArt Baryta Satin, Photo Rag® Baryta and FineArt Pearl. You will have a chance to print, look at images, discuss the various features and ask questions.

  • You will learn to evaluate the nature of different papers and how they will effect an image.

  • Hands-on work will include photo review and paper-photo matching.

  • Bring to class your notebook, laptop and a thumb drive.
